Window Views #10

I did a little photo editing on my photographs for Window Views today.

This post was supposed to go up at 6 AM. Blogger didn't do it! Bah! But here it is now!

I used the Dry Brush in Adobe Photoshop to give a watercolor, painterly effect to the photo on top. I treated the second photo to Film Grain.

I'm eager to see your windows this week. Feel free to try the Dry Brush technique on your posts.

Window Views #9

Hey Everybody, it's Window Views time again! Welcome!

I scanned (600 dpi) this photo of our summer place long ago. Those windows looked out on beautiful Peach Lake, near Brewster, N.Y. The house was located on the lake and my Dad owned a speed boat to take us 'round the lake.

We had a small dock that you couldn't dive from but that we could sit on and watch the sun go down.

There was no air-conditioning and an outside bathroom (in the back of the attached garage that you can't see in this picture). The car in the driveway is a gold Chevy Impala with a black Landau top.

The antenna on top of the house had to be that high to get good TV reception (I guess).

Ah, dose were da days! :)

Window Views #8

It's Window Views time again, friends!

When you shoot inside Coe Hall at the Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, New York you're not allowed to use a flash. I guess I should be happy that they let us shoot pictures at all. There was a time before digital cameras when you were not allowed to take photos inside any institution.

I love the photo above but you can see it did come out a bit dark
and no amount of brightening or lightening would help.

When a photo doesn't come out the way you like it you can try some photo-editing filters
that will make it more pleasing to the eye. I used Photobucket's Fresco filter on the photo above.

I'm posting Window Views early on Wednesday for Thursday to make it easier on our friends in other parts of the world.

Window Views #7

Welcome, my friends, to the 7th post for WINDOW VIEWS. We have been posting for 7 weeks our photos of all kinds of windows: interesting, beautiful windows.

This past week I went to the Cloisters with blogger friends Jan and Bob Prytz. Jan hosts Murrieta 365.

In the first photo a set of windows look out on one of the cloister gardens and the covered walkway with an open colonnade on one side.

The second photo is like my header picture. The young woman looks out a window not unlike my second photo. Notice the vaulted ceilings. The picture is darker than I wanted it to be but we weren't allowed to use a flash inside. The window by the way looks out on the Hudson River.

I'm posting early for Thursday so that our blogger friends around the world will find it easier to post.
