Today's Window Views and doors too! Below is one of the colonial houses on City Island, Bronx, NY. Beautiful doors and windows in the afternoon sun!

The island is home to the Columbia University Sailing Team, whose fleet of dinghies is docked at City Island Yacht Club. The team comes from Manhattan to practice off the western shore of City Island three times a week. Fordham University's Sailing Team sails out of Morris Yacht and Beach Club.

In the novel Bluebeard, by Kurt Vonnegut, the character Dan Gregory states that his 80-foot (24 m) yacht, the Ararat, was dry-docked on City Island.

Many of the boats which competed and won in the America's Cup in years past were built in The Minneford Boat Yard on City Island.

I wanted you to see the photo directly below, though, to appreciate the unusual SPIKES on the wall around the house to keep intruders out. Those spikes mean business!

The center portion of this house looks like a lighthouse, no?

A bright beautiful day in the Bronx, N.Y.



This apartment building is located on East Gun Hill Road and Putnam Place.



East Gun Hill Road is dominated by large apartment buildings on the north side of the street, and on the south side, by the Montefiore Hospital complex, established in 1913.

The architectural details tell me the architects took great pride in building these utilitarian apartment buildings years ago.

The sculpture is placed in front of the window of the Walt Whitman birthplace on Long Island. The window has the impression of a very well-known daguerreotype of the young Walt Whitman in carpenter's garb which was used for the first edition of "Leaves of Grass."
