The windows of Ft. Schuyler, Bronx, New York

Today the classrooms of SUNY Maritime College are behind those windows.

Don't forget to sign Mr. Linky and leave a comment. I'll be around to visit your posts. Don't forget to go visiting yourself!

Hi Mary. You always have the such interesting windows to show us. I was wondering why this maritime college looked so much like a prison...until I read more and see it was originally a fort - that would explain the smallness of the windows!

Good morning Mary! I wouldn't expect something like this to be in the Bronx...but I really need to go and explore New York as a blogger and I know I'd discover a whole lot more then on my previous trips :0) Thanks for hosting Mary!

I'm glad I'm doing both Window Views and Sepia tonight, because I see the relationship between both your posts.

This reminds me of the fort in South Boston: Fort Independence on Castle Island. That's a great place to visit, too.

This fort wall fascinated me in your earlier post! Interesting to see those windows in closeup! Certainly tiny but nice design around them!

It is fun to read the whole story! pictures alone don't always tell 1,000 words...

How interesting I didn't know that there was a ford in the Bronx ! and no tourist bus takes you there ! I will complain !

Thank you so much for the post card with the light house, it arrived safely while I was in England !

Nicely done! Were these originally gun portals? I think people forget that even NYC was once smaller than it is today. Most if the neighborhoods with "fort" in the name once really had a fort in that area. It would be ineresting to see an old map showing all the forts like Schuyler, Totten and Hamilton.

You won't get distracted much if you're studying there! I thought it was a prison at first sight!
I'm playing again this week! It's up!

Great windows! I would love to take classes in such an interesting building. I honestly don't know what you take at a 'maritime college' though!
My pic today is another from last weekend's Rod & Roll festival in Dowagiac - took this one specifically for Window Views!
Check it out at It's A Blog Eat Blog World
Cheers,
Mo
